Caregiver Awareness Month

October 27, 2023

Caregiver Awareness Month

November is Caregiver Awareness Month. To honor the loving, hard working, remarkable caregivers of the Angelman community, we’ve compiled a list of resources and services geared toward YOU, the caregiver. Even though caring for an individual with AS can be rewarding, we know that it can be challenging, stressful and isolating.

Here are some ideas that will help you take care of yourself, give yourself or someone else a pat on the back and celebrate the work you do every day for the ones you love.

Unseen Documentary

How We’re Failing Parent Caregivers and Why It Matters

Watch it for $10

An estimated 16.8 million people in the U.S. are caring for a child with disabilities or complex medical needs. The demands of daily life and chronic stress can negatively affect the mental and physical wellbeing of parent caregivers. With few who understand their situation and limited accommodations, caregivers often feel alone in their struggle. The Unseen documentary takes a raw, honest look at the parent caregiving experience. If caregivers are ever going to get the support and resources they deserve, they first have to be seen and heard. The Unseen documentary puts faces and stories to this issue to enable change for the caregivers in our community.
